Meet the Teacher Day

This afternoon, Trey, Lil, Reid, and I went up to Lacy to meet Lil's teacher and see her new classroom. There are 6 kindergarten classes, so Lil was delighted to discover she was in the same class as her dear friend from preschool, May. Her friends Annie, Margaret, and Sam are also in her class. She loved the frog, hermit crab, and fish who live right near her seat and can't wait to use the computers!

Local Royalty Summit Mulch Mountain

Yesterday afternoon, Trey had 2 BIG truckloads of mulch delivered. (He's going to have fun this weekend.) When Reid awoke from his nap, he discovered the mountain of mulch that had appeared in our driveway. Lil was the queen of Mulch Mountain, Reid was the king, and, not surprisingly, I was the royal servant. It was a great time until Reid ran down too quickly and ended up with two skinned knees. Clearly these pictures were taken before the great fall.

And she's off!

Lil started kindergarten this morning.... There were quite a few tears (both hers AND mine!), but as soon as I left, she was happy as a clam and having a ball. (My friend's sister is a teacher there and checked in on her several times.) Hard to believe it's already time for it!

"Look at us. We're idiots!"

Tonight Trey and I were sitting in the den having a glass of wine when Lil and Reid came running in covered in colored paint yelling, "Hey, look at us! We're idiots! We're idiots!" They circled the house a few times and continued to yell it. As Trey was laughing, he said, "Oh, that's classic!" Reid then started yelling, "Yeah, we're classy! We're classy!" We still haven't determined whether they meant Indians (or where the whole "idiot" thing came from), but it provided a lot of laughs and quite a few encores with even more paint. After I took these pictures, they went back into the kitchen and covered their arms, legs, and feet, too.

Getting it all off might not be so funny.

The adoration continues.

Lil has had her heart set on a Lightning McQueen/Mack playset for ages. We've told her to put it on her Christmas list, but four months seems like an eternity to her. She decided to build her own out of Legos the other day and has been adding on and renovating ever since. This morning's construction included a shrine of sorts for Lightning McQueen.

Look out kindergarten....

Here comes Lightning McQueen!

This afternoon we went to a little pre kindergarten get-together at a friend's house for a few hours so Lil could mix and mingle with her future schoolmates. As you can see, none of them was all that interested in a group picture - four of them skipped it altogether (not that I blamed them).

Afterwards, Trey and I took her and Reid to Kanki for dinner and then to the Disney store to get Lil a new backpack for school. She now has a Lightning McQueen lunch bag, backpack, AND, for the bargain price of $16.50, some very attractive kicks that have Lightning on the sides and light up on the straps AND the sides. She did a few laps around the house before she got in the bath to try them out. She even made all her Lightning McQueen faces (some of you are more familiar with those than others - Mom and Dad) while she posed for pictures.

Rooster and Oren

Oren was a month old a few days ago and is turning into such a little plumpkin! We're enjoying him so much - even Reid is starting to love on him, too. When I took these pictures, Reid was saying, "He is so, so cute! What a cute little baby!" He also wanted to know why he was wearing an apron (that would be a bib); why his pajamas had frogs, boats, and bubbles; and what all those noises were. He also gave him a sniff test to see if he was stinky. Fortunately, the test came out negative.

Back to the beach!

Lil, Reid, and I went down to Wilmington for a few days - possibly our last visit before Lil starts kindergarten. As always, they had a most wonderful time and did NOT want to leave this afternoon!

Thanks again, Susu and Ga!

They might actually like each other.

Every now and again, I get the feeling my children might actually like each other. (Nevermind that they were more or less bribed to act like it for these pictures.) These were taken at my parents' house in Wilmington last week in hopes of getting one for our Christmas card.

(We're trying again next week.)

Mermaid and Merman

I have been terribly negligent about posting lately; the current (broken) state of my camera is the primary reason. Fortunately, Mom got her underwater camera out to take pictures of Lil and Reid in their pool while we were in Wilmington last week!
