It's a bird, it's a plane, it's.... SuperRooster!

After his bath last night, Reid put on his Spiderman t-shirt (thanks, Grammy - it's still a hit!), red underwear, and his Dora ballerina socks (don't ask), and out came SuperRooster. Powers include trashing his room and tormenting certain 5-year-old girls.

Happy Mother's Day!

Yesterday Lil's class invited all the moms in to surprise them with their Mother's Day treats. They had made homemade chocolate chip cookies that morning (their teacher, Mrs Dana, brought her mixer in from home), and they'd made cards and painted picture frames for each of us. She was so proud of it all!

To Susu and Ga's We Go

Lil, Rooster, and I went to Wilmington yesterday to spend a night with Susu and Ga. After countless rounds of Cariboo, brownie- and pizza-making, and all-around five-star service, neither one of my children wanted to leave this afternoon.

Thanks again, Susu and Ga!

Good times with cheap glasses

Who knew 3D glasses could be so much fun outside of the movie theater? Just something else to make me wonder why we have so many toys in our house when a $2 pair of 3D glasses seems to do the trick!

Wee Princess of Harris Teeter

After Trey left for San Francisco this afternoon, Lil, Rooster, and I went to the grocery store. Lil was dressed in street clothes (and by that I mean not a costume) five minutes before we left, but apparently Harris Teeter called for more formal attire. Between the hat, dress, and 14 beaded necklaces around her neck, she was certainly a vision cruising around the store on a busy Sunday afternoon. She had her heart set on a stunning pair of pink-feathered dress-up heels, but Mama prevailed. Sister wore some pink flip-flops instead.

Lil and Ruby

Trey looked out the kitchen window before he left today and saw this - I rushed out to get pictures before one (or both) of them got up. Ruby goes out with Lil every time she goes outside - Lil brings her sticks to chew on and lies in the grass with her.

Yard Daddy, Airplane Daddy

Today Lil and Reid disappeared into Trey's closet. There was quite a bit of giggling going on before they came out pretending to be Daddy. Lil said she was "Yard Daddy" (Trey usually wears that pullover when he does yardwork in the cold) and Reid, pulling one of Trey's suitcases, said he was "Airplane Daddy."

Rainy Day

Lil didn't let the rain keep her, Clara, and Betty inside. I looked out the kitchen window and saw her pushing them on the swings out back. (Needless to say, they're both in the washing machine right now.)

Princesses and Plasma Cars

We had dinner with a group of friends the other night.... Lil and Gracie wasted no time dressing up as princesses (Banks was the Incredible Hulk) while Reid, James, and Charlie went up and down the driveway all night on various wheeled toys. By the time we left, Reid had 2 skinned knees and 2 bloody toes (some shoes probably would've prevented that last one). I'm starting to think we can't get through a week without some sort of injury.

American Idol

Trey is in Boston this week so Lil has been sleeping in my bed (as she does whenever he's out of town). Tonight I let her stay up long enough to watch American Idol with me.

Lil: Mom, I LOVE this show! (She hasn't really seen it since Bo Bice was on - she still wants to know where he is.)

Me: I'm glad, honey. Be quiet so we can watch, okay?

Lil: Okay. Mom, who is this?

Me: That's Blake.

Lil: Who's Blake? Did he win?

Me: We won't know until tomorrow night who goes home this week.

Lil: But did he win?

Me: We have another few weeks before we know who wins.

Lil: I think he's a good singer. Do you think he's a good singer?

Me: Lil, PLEASE stop talking so I can watch this show!

About 30 seconds passed before she scooted close to me, looked at me very seriously, and asked, "Mom, have you ever touched your eyeball?"
